Arsenal keen on 22 year old FC Basel defender – Could be set for summer tussle

Fanatik claim Galatasaray are set to go head to head with Arsenal to sign Basel central defender Eray Cömert this summer.

The Swiss international, who has Turkish heritage, is a transfer target for the Cim Bom say Fanatik, but they add Arsenal are also interested in signing the player.

Cömert was linked with a move to the Turkish champions in the past, and Fanatik claim Galatasaray officials have already contacted Basel about the potential transfer.

However, they also state Mikel Arteta’s side are in the picture as the Gunners will be looking to strengthen their squad in the summer.

Arsenal have had previous dealings with Basel after they signed Mohamed Elneny from them in 2016.

The 22 year old is a key player for Marcel Koller’s side and has made 35 appearances for the Swiss club in all competitions this season, scoring three goals.

His contract at St. Jakob Park will expire at the end of June 2022.
