Arsenal will sign defender Pablo Mari on a permanent deal, according to reports from Brazil on Friday.
Following the player’s injury in the game against Manchester City on Thursday night, big doubts were raised about his stay at the London side.
But on a live stream, channel Flamengo Paparazzo claims to have spoken to the club’s vice-president Marcos Braz, who confirmed the deal.
The official has reportedly claimed that the sale is ‘guaranteed’ regardless of the injury. He also said he’s sorry for the player, who’s much loved at the Rio de Janeiro club.
Pablo Mari was loaned by Flamengo to the Gunners in January, with a fee of €4m for the spell, and another €2m in bonuses depending on the number of appearances until the end of the season. To sign him permanently, Arsenal should spend €4m more.
Pablo Mari only made three appearances for the Gunners before the injury, and since he’s ruled out for the rest of the season, that was apparently enough to prove himself to the club.
