Arsenal can bring player back to Emirates by triggering €50m clause – ‘Not exactly out of reach’ for Gunners

Earlier this month, TuttoMercatoWeb’s Niccolò Ceccarini stated AC Milan’s Ismaël Bennacer has several suitors in England with ‘Arsenal above all’.

The midfielder spent 18 months at the north London club before leaving them for Empoli in January 2017. AC Milan signed Bennacer in 2019 and offered a five-year deal.

Having left Arsenal more than five years ago, Corriere dello Sport state the Premier League could be a temptation for the 25-year-old.

The Gunners are among his suitors and can take the Algeria international away from the San Siro by triggering his €50m release clause, which is only applicable for foreign clubs. This claim was also reported by the same newspaper two years ago.

Today’s Corriere explains the figure mentioned in the clause is ‘not out of reach’ for Mikel Arteta’s side, who have already approached his agent. The Rossoneri, for their part, have also moved to secure his long-term future.

After holding talks with the player during the Dubai tour, they had a meeting with his agent, Enzo Raiola, at the club’s headquarters on Wednesday.

Bennacer has a decision to make on whether to sign a new deal at Milan or make a move to the Premier League, where Arsenal have already made contact with his representative.
