Everton remain interested in Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao, with his agents trying to find a solution to his contract situation to suit all parties.

That’s according to Mondo Udinese, who cover the player today and the work his agents are doing behind the scenes.

Everton have been linked to the Brazilian since the summer, when it was made clear he was one of a number of players they were looking at as part of the summer rebuild under Frank Lampard.

A move never happened but he has continued to be linked regardless, with recent reports making it clear that Everton remain in the picture for him.

Mondo Udinese continue that today, stating that Everton are among Becao’s suitors as his contract situation rumbles on.

His current contract with the Italian side expires in June 2024 and Udinese are keen to extend it beyond that point, something they have not yet managed to do.

It means that those interested in him could ‘find a deal at a much more advantageous price’ next summer, a situation Udinese would like to avoid.

Thus, the idea ‘bouncing around the player’s entourage’ is for the player to sign a ‘lightning renewal’ that would allow Udinese to ask for a figure that suits them and matches the defender’s value.

What that figure is, isn’t mentioned, but it seems the idea is for him to sign a new contract quickly but perhaps include a release clause for a fair price to all involved.

Whether that would affect Everton’s interest remains to be seen, although in Italy they’re maintaining that the Toffees are still in the picture after the summer.
