Ferran Torres was once ‘very close’ to joining Juventus, before he moved to Manchester City in 2020.

That’s according to his agent Hector Peris Ros, who has revealed he felt he owed the Italian side after his client ended up at the Etihad.

Torres joined Manchester City in a €33.5m deal in August 2020, with City taking advantage of Valencia’s perilous financial position to get him in a somewhat bargain deal.

That certainly proved to be the case as he would spent just two years in Manchester, scoring 16 goals and registering four assists in 43 appearances, before a €55m move to Barcelona in January this year.

It meant Manchester City were able to make a sizeable profit on a player who had only arrived as a squad player to be developed under Pep Guardiola.

And it seems his agent still has some regrets about the move in the first place, revealing that he felt he owed Juventus after he didn’t end up there.

“Relations with the Bianconeri club are obviously excellent after we brought Kenan Yildiz to Turin,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“There was also Barcelona and Bayern tried to keep him, but Kenan was convinced to come to Italy. And then, personally, I felt I owed Juve for Ferran Torres.

“Summer 2020, Ferran Torres was due to leave Valencia and was very close to Juve. We were even already looking for a house in Turin.

“Then the two clubs didn’t agree and Ferran Torres went to City, before returning to Spain, to Barça.”
