Leeds United attacker Jordan Botaka has joined League One side Charlton Athletic on a season long loan, according to Fox Sports. The Congo DR international only joined Leeds United last summer, but he failed to make an impact in his first season in England.

Fox Sports have revealed Botaka is set to join Charlton for the season as the South London club look to bounce to the Championship. Charlton were relegated to Division One last season after a disappointing campaign, and are looking to strengthen their squad before the transfer deadline at of the month.

With Leeds United recently brining in former Swansea City and Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez the youngster was deemed surplus to requirements by Garry Monk, and will head to Charlton to get more playing time.

Botaka joined Leeds United in the last summer transfer window from Dutch side Excelsior, but hardly figured under Uwe Rosler, and then his successor Steve Evans.

The winger played just 13 league games for the club in the last campaign, and also featured for Leeds United’s U21 side.
