French journalist Gilles Favard is at it again. After giving fuel to Riyad Mahrez to Arsenal on Wednesday, he’s pushing it further on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Favard claimed Arsenal had offered £30m, and then £35m. That was later backed up by himself on L’Equipe’s night TV programme, and then also in the newspaper today.

Read more on all that here, we did a piece explaining the claims, sources, and reliability.

Back to his Twitter account on Thursday, and Favard has now said that Arsenal’s next offer approaches £40m.

So that’s £30m, £35m and now £40m, all within 24 hours.

L’Equipe themselves have an update, but don’t seem entirely certain, saying: ‘Mercredi, les Gunners ont formulé une offre de 41 M€ (plus 9 de bonus ?) pour racheter les trois dernières années de contrat de l’attaquant international algérien à Leicester.’

Well if they’re not sure on the €9m bonus, then we’re not sure what to think.

UPDATE: Gilles Favard kept going on Thursday regarding Arsenal’s assault for the Algerian winger, claiming Leicester were starting to ‘fold’ under the pressure from the Gunners.

He finished by saying the end was near, suggesting Arsène Wenger would be getting his man.
