Back in December, a handful of stories emerged from both Portugal and France regarding an alleged Manchester City interest in Montpellier defender Nordi Mukiele.
The defender, who can play either down the right or in the centre of a back four, has impressed greatly for the Ligue 1 side this season and has become one of the first names on Michel Der Zakarian’s team sheet at the tender age of 20.
As Manchester City’s scouting suggests, this hasn’t gone unnoticed, and now another Premier League team has targeted the France U21 international: Tottenham.
According to Le10 Sport in France, Spurs have sent representatives a number of times over the course of the season to scout the young defender.
That’s not all, as the French website claim Mauricio Pochettino and co. have also started asking for information about Mukiele to try and find out more about his situation at Montpellier.
With the first two parts of the transfer process covered, scouting and initial contact, Tottenham look serious here.
Contracted to the club until 2022, the Ligue 1 side are in a strong position to get a solid amount of money if they so wish, but whatever they ask for shouldn’t be an obstacle for a Premier League side.
Their top sale remains Steve Mounié, now at Huddersfield, whom they parted ways with for a mere £11.5m or so, and he was their star striker.
Back in December, reports stated he would cost ‘at least €12m’.
Our guess is (taking into account Mukiele’s age and potential) their demands could max out at €20m, and that’s being generous.
