Erik Sviatchenko doesn’t plan on being at FC Midtjylland for long.
Loaned to the Danish club in the summer, with Brendan Rodgers not having the defender as part of his core plans, Sviatchenko is looking forward to something bigger, and the Premier League is his dream.
Speaking to Ekstra Bladet, the Celtic owned player explained: “The plan is definitely to continue abroad when I have won the championship with FCM. FCK is a closed chapter. I have a great deal of respect for Ståle and FCK, but there is a reason I’m currently loaned at FCM. After all, I’m only 26 years old and have shown that I can be on top level.”
With Rodgers allowing Sviatchenko the loan, it had been expected he’d either return to FCK or move to a Championship club, the move to FC Midtjylland tempted the player.
“It was already there in the January window, but I didn’t feel it was for sure. There could be three matches and then looking at the bench again.”
With a Celtic contract lasting until June 2020, it’s clear Sviatchenko is looking beyond the Scottish Premiership, probably because he’s aware Brendan Rodgers isn’t a huge fan.
