Anderlecht are once again considering signing Aleksandar Mitrovic back from Newcastle United. The rumours pop up and down every now and again, but the Belgian media insist this time Anderlecht are serious.
However, there’s a problem. Anderlecht are currently going through a takeover and everything is complicated. This month they loaned Kenny Saief from Gent with a clause making the transfer permanent if Anderlecht spend more than €500k on any other player, and that would cost an over-the-top €3.5m report Het Nieuwsblad.
It’s an absolute mess, and the Belgian newspaper don’t think Mitrovic could arrive, even on loan, for less than that amount. According to the claims, Anderlecht are taking comfort from Newcastle United knocking back all of Brighton & Hove Albion, West Brom and Crystal Palace.
West Brom were weakly linked with Mitrovic, and they’ve now got Daniel Sturridge, Crystal Palace have hardly been linked at all, but Brighton are the ones with the strongest rumours and it’s something which has carried into the past few days.
Newcastle apparently don’t want to sell or loan to a competitor, and that’s given Anderlecht some hope, but they still have the Saief mess to deal with.
