If Liverpool are still interested in Sander Berge from Belgian side Genk, they better act soon, because the competition is in a hurry.

The Reds have recently been linked to the midfielder as Jurgen Klopp reportedly sent scouts to watch him in the local league.

But Estadio Deportivo reports that Sevilla are planing to bring the player to Spain in the January transfer window.

As they look to avoid competition and replace Steven N’Zonzi, the Spanish club would be ready to improve the offer they made for Berge in the summer.

With Genk demanding €15m for the youngster, Sevilla had offered €12m, but now intend to add €2m more in performance bonuses. The problem is Genk have a new manager, and the injuries in the squad could force him to keep Berge at the club for more time.

Liverpool are named as possible competitors again, this time alongside Arsenal and Napoli, but there’s no news about approaches from any of these sides, despite the monitoring.

We’re pretty sure that any of these named clubs would have the €15m to pay up front, especially Liverpool. But we’d have to see if Jurgen Klopp became convinced enough after the scouting made by his officials.
