Given Manchester City’s connections with Barcelona’s great and good knee doctors, and the high standing they’re in around the football world, it was somewhat inevitable that Benjamin Mendy would go through at least part of his recovery in the Spanish/Catalan city.
Mendy is still ‘always smiling’ report Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, and they say he’s now back in Barcelona, ‘picked up in a taxi’ at the airport and whisked off to the Clinic Quiron, where Dr Ramon Cugat works.
This is said to be the first phase of Mendy’s real recovery, and when the real hard work starts. Initial shock at the injury has now subsided, and Mendy will spend much of the rest of the season trying to break predictions and be back sooner than expected.
Mundo Deportivo say now the ‘difficult times’ come for Mendy, as he not only takes on a new life away from his Manchester City teammates, but also goes through painful rehabilitation work.The chance of returning before the end of the season, and potentially a World Cup place, will help keep that smile close to Mendy’s face.
