After suffering from the initial pressure of being their most expensive transfer of all time, Didier Ndong managed to grow into a very useful player at Sunderland.
While he was unable to help the Black Cats avoid relegation to the Championship last season, the Gabon international was a key part of David Moyes’ team, and has remained exactly that since Simon Grayson took over.
Playing every minute of every game so far this campaign, the 23-year-old has attracted the interest of other clubs including the Premier League and in Ligue 1.
According to RMC Sport, Lyon, who will play in the Europa League group stages, are looking to bolster their midfield before the end of the transfer window after seeing the likes of Maxime Gonalons and Corentin Tolisso leave this summer.
Sunderland’s defensive midfielder is said to correspond to the profile they are looking for, and initial contact has already taken place between Ndong and the French side.
However, as has already been reported around England, they aren’t the only ones after him, as West Ham are also keen, with RMC Sport claiming the Hammers have already made an offer for the Black Cats star.
Considering Sunderland paid £18m for him in the first place, there’s a strong chance they’ll want something similar for him, if not more, this late in the transfer window.
