Three days ago, Fotbolldirekt reported Crystal Palace, Fulham and Sheffield United have shown interest in IF Elfsborg’s Terry Yegbe. It was also said the Swedish club would need €5m to sanction his sale in the winter market.
At the start of this year, the defender left Finnish side SJK for Elfsborg and signed a deal until December 2028.
Borås Tidning relay Fotbolldirekt’s claim about the Eagles, Fulham and the Championship side’s interest in the 23-year-old. They point this out when having a chat with Elfsborg Club Manager Stefan Andreasson. It’s worth noting he’s not the head coach, but a director at the Swedish club.
Andreasson has talked about his side’s desire to hold on to the centre-back beyond this season. He’s well aware Yegbe will leave at some point and has backed him to join a club in the top five leagues. This rules out a move to Sheffield United.
“I won’t comment on the clubs, but there is a lot of interest in him. Terry is smart and has smart people around him,” he said.
“We have ambitions not to be the middle club, but to be able to go straight from us to the top five leagues – Hákon Valdimarsson is a good example of that.
“I’m sure Terry will have a long and good career outside Sweden, but we are confident that he will play for Elfsborg next year as well. He hasn’t even played a full season for Elfsborg yet. At the same time, everyone knows that things can happen very quickly in this business.”
