Last week, we covered claims from Italy which stated Manchester City are in the picture to sign AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders.

The midfielder has featured 12 times in all competitions and has impressed this season. At the weekend, he scored the winner in the Serie A side’s 1-0 win over AC Monza.

According to Calciomercato, the 26-year-old has attracted interest from Manchester City and Barcelona.

The Netherlands international’s deal lasts until 2028, and it includes an annual salary of €1.6m per year. He’s a key player for Paulo Fonseca and the Rossoneri intend to extend his deal until 2030 and double his salary.

Calciomercato relay comments made by his father about the discussions with the Italian club for the renewal. They warn Milan ‘must be careful’ because of the interest shown by the English champions and Barca.

It’s claimed Reijnders is ‘very popular’ in the Premier League, where Manchester City are named as the only contender.

The report adds Pep Guardiola ‘has a weakness’ for players like the Dutchman, who is an ‘all-rounder’. The La Liga side are also chasing him but haven’t made any concrete move so far.

With Manchester City and Barca ‘on the horizon’, Milan have to accelerate their efforts to tie Reijnders down to a new contract.
