Lazio president Claudio Lotito has sent a small dig to AS Roma owners The Friedkin Group as they finalise their purchase of Everton.

Roma Forever cover the comments from the Lazio president today in which he criticises the American group for splitting their attentions.

The Friedkins are set to takeover at Everton at some point in the coming weeks after returning to buy the Premier League club last month.

A deal is expected to be wrapped up quickly, with the group already settling various debts owed by the Toffees and reaching agreements with other creditors such as A-Cap.

No roadblocks to the deal being sanctioned by the various authorities are expected and reports have already made it clear that the group are planning a big few months and even spending in the January transfer window.

How they manage their interests moving forwards has been the topic of discussion for months, particularly at Roma, the other major club they own.

Some fans of that club have been concerned since day one that their club will be forgotten once the Friedkins have control of Everton, a Premier League club who can offer vast riches compared to Serie A.

It seems Lotito agrees and was keen to criticise his rivals for their decision to split their interests between Roma and Everton.

“Foreign clubs? First of all, I have to increase the standing of Lazio,” he said.

“I act as President with passion, pleasure, enthusiasm and a spirit of service. I cultivate the economic aspect in other activities.”

The big insinuation there is he leads Lazio out of love for the club, whereas the Friedkins are looking for a business investment. It will be another sting for Roma fans.
