On Thursday, Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister didn’t feature for Argentina in their 1-1 draw against Venezuela.
The midfielder had ‘adductor discomfort’ when he joined the national team camp for the ongoing international break. On Monday, Clarín reported he’s returned to training and could be involved against Bolivia later today.
This report was partly confirmed by La Albiceleste manager Lionel Scaloni, but he wasn’t certain whether the Liverpool player would be fit for the upcoming tie.
“Alexis trained normally yesterday [Sunday] and today we will decide if he is fit to play. We will know after training,” he said during the pre-match press conference, as quoted by TyC Sports.
Another report from TyC Sports provides the latest on the 25-year-old’s injury situation. On Monday afternoon [local time], Argentina completed their last training session for the clash against Bolivia.
It’s claimed ‘good news have arrived’ for Scaloni and the World Cup winners about Mac Allister. He has ‘responded smoothly’ in the last few training sessions, indicating there are no injury concerns with him. Therefore, the player will start for his country in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Arne Slot will no doubt still be concerned about his player’s fitness.
