On Monday, Sweden’s football association confirmed Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Bergvall has picked up a “minor injury”. He returned to London yesterday and missed the national team’s 3-0 win over Estonia.
There was no mention of the nature of the setback or when the 18-year-old picked up an injury.
Fotboll Direkt provides more on the Tottenham player’s injury situation. They indicate his withdrawal was mainly a precautionary measure.
It’s claimed the midfielder’s injury isn’t serious, but the ‘trend has been negative for a number of weeks’. This suggests the youngster has been struggling with a fitness concern recently.
The report states Bergvall had a ‘sore groin’ after Tottenham’s Europa League win over Ferencvárosi TC on October 3rd. That didn’t stop him from being part of the national team squad for October’s international break.
They add he felt ‘something happened in the back of his calf’ during a training session with Sweden.
Even though the Sweden international’s injury isn’t a major concern, Fotboll Direkt say he will undergo a ‘medical examination’ in London, after returning to Tottenham. This should provide more clarity about his injury.
Bergvall has made eight appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this season.
