During the last international break, Lucas Bergvall made his debut for Sweden’s national side and the Tottenham Hotspur player is involved again this time around.

Sweden are facing Slovakia and Estonia in the UEFA Nations League and Bergvall will hope to have some involvement in both of those matches.

The 18-year-old has made eight appearances for Spurs so far this season, and whilst he’s not put together many minutes across those, there’s certainly hope he can be a star of the future.

Bergvall is one of the Swedish players chosen to speak to the country’s media ahead of the national team matches this week, and one of the first questions he faced was how he felt when, after his first Tottenham start, Ange Postecoglou quickly hooked him following a red card to Radu Dragusin.

In response, Fotbolldirekt quote him as saying: “Of course I were disappointed, but you should be. I completely understood the decision. It was just a matter of letting go and moving on.”

Ahead of his move to Tottenham, Bergvall had been asked what his goals were for his first season with Spurs and he simply said it was to make his debut.

That answer was put to him, with the unsaid suggestion it was maybe too small an aim: “Haha, first goal completed now! I don’t know what my expectations were, it was more to get there and see where it would take me. It was incredibly fun to make my debut.”

On being compared to David Beckham, Bergvall replied: “Uh, I don’t know… It’s probably my hair.”
