Premier League side Brentford were keen on signing Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode in the summer window.
They made an attempt to sign the defender but their offer was sent back, as La Viola wanted a higher figure to let the player leave.
Despite interest from Brentford, Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso was never keen on selling Kayode… although circumstances might be changing now.
La Nazione, as relayed by LabaroViola, have reported that the situation of Kayode now has some ‘complex questions’ to address. They confirm that Brentford’s offer wasn’t considered adequate, with the club previously being sure that keeping him in the squad would aid his development.
He’s played only 17 minutes in Serie A since Brentford’s offer and even a fringe full-back like Fabiano Parisi has played more.
This is raising doubts about Kayode’s future at the club, considering that there are already two players ahead of him in the pecking order at left-back.
Robin Gosens and Cristiano Biraghi are much more preferred options and the feeling is that needing another player for the role will not make sense.
That is why Kayode’s future at Fiorentina could be in increasing doubt, and therefore another opportunity presents itself for Brentford.
