Everton will be the Friedkin Group’s main priority once their takeover is done, simply because that’s where the money is.
That’s according to Vicki Blommém, reported by Göteborgs-Posten, who cover Roma today ahead of their clash with IF Elfsborg and how they feel the Italian side will soon be playing second fiddle to Everton.
They explain that while Elfsborg will be taking on a team in good form, recent times have been turbulent for the Serie A club filled with a change of coach, alleged player rebellion and disgruntled supporters.
The situation between the club and owners the Friedkins is strained, to say the least, after the sacking of Daniele De Rossi and their takeover of Everton has not helped ease tensions.
Roma fans, and indeed plenty of others, see them as a much bigger club than the Toffees but the reality is that the Premier League is ‘superior to all other leagues commercially’.
That has led to a belief among the Roma fanbase that Everton will end up as the main priority, despite the Friedkins insisting otherwise. And it’s an opinion shared by journalist Vicki Blommé, a Serie A expert on TV4.
“I am convinced that this will affect Roma,” she said.
“We all know where the money is, and it’s in the Premier League. We’ve seen examples of this before in multi-club networks. If you have the opportunity to sign a player – do you put him in Roma or Everton?
“Such situations can be faced by the owners and then it is probably the money that rules. The owners want to get a return on their investment.”
