Oscar Schwartau arrived at Norwich City in the summer transfer window and has quickly become an important part of the side.
He was in the club’s starting eleven for the Championship clash against Derby County at the weekend, and operated in the attacking midfield spot.
Norwich picked up a 3-2 win and while the teenager didn’t score or assist, the game was further proof of how he has a role to play in the club’s present as well as the future.
Canaries’assistant boss Glen Riddersholm has spoken about the player in a chat with TipsBladet, revealing that Schwartau has ‘enormous’ potential and how the club can help him achieve that.
“I was happy that he chose Norwich. I believe we can help lift him to become an international player and release the enormous potential he has,” Riddersholm said.
“I see a player that we may see establish himself in the national team in the future.”
The club’s assistant boss didn’t want to build the hype too much, wanting the player to have peace to unlock all the potential he has.
“But let’s stop talking too much and remember that talent is one thing, releasing it is another.
“That’s where Oscar is right now, but he undeniably has huge potential, and we need to help him unlock that.”
Things have started quite well for the teenager and even though he is yet to score or assist for Norwich, the first step to playing in a different country is usually playing regularly.
He has already taken that step and the next goal should be to get amongst the goals more often. That could well happen soon.
