Since joining Brest from Brighton on a loan deal in the summer, Abdallah Sima has been enjoying life in France.
While the Senegalese left winger is yet to score in Ligue 1, he now has three goals in the Champions League and he found the back of the net twice against Red Bull Salzburg yesterday, helping Brest to a convincing 4-0 win.
This is fourth loan stint away from Brighton but the 23-year-old has never made a similar mark in European competition at any of his previous clubs.
L’Equipe state that Sima is the first player from a French side to score in each of his first two Champions League matches since Marquinhos did so with PSG in 2013.
They describe the winger as someone who is powerful and quite strong in 1v1 duels, referring to him as a ‘dynamite’ for the French club. They also highlight how his ability to come inside often makes him a reliable second striker, which benefits Brest a lot.
There is a belief that he will score in Ligue 1 soon, with the player stepping up for Eric Roy’s side.
