Celtic’s trip to the Signal Iduna Park ended in huge disappointment as Brendan Rodgers’ side suffered a 7-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Daizen Maeda scored the equaliser for Celtic in the ninth minute, after Emre Can opened the scoring in the Champions League tie.
The Scottish Premiership champions then went on to concede four more goals in the first half, with Karim Adeyemi scoring a hat-trick in just over 30 minutes.
Wednesday’s edition of Bild is very critical when grading Celtic’s performance.
Whilst most ratings are out of 10, or sometimes 5, Bild use the German school grading system. 1 means very good, 2 is good, 3 is average, 4 is passable but still lacking, 5 is deficient and 6 is insufficient.
Among the Celtic players, Maeda got the best rating of 3, which is average. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who hasn’t conceded in the league, was rated 4.
Greg Taylor started as a left-back and got the worst rating of 6, indicating there was a ‘failure to understand basics’ of the game.
Kyogo Furuhashi, Nicolas Kühn, Arne Engels, Paulo Bernardo, Callum McGregor, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales and Alistair Johnston were rated 5. Rodgers was also rated 5.
BVB’s Yan Couto and goalkeeper Gregor Kobel received 3, which was the lowest. Adeyemi and Serhou Guirassy each for 1. Can, Julian Ryerson, Nico Schlotterbeck, Waldemar Anton, Pascal Groß, Julian Brandt and Jamie Gittens all got 2.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are currently 19th in the table and could drop further down after today’s Champions League matches.
