Wolfsburg manager Ralph Hasenhütt has told the German media Maxence Lacroix will be signing for Crystal Palace.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to the Premier League side in recent weeks as they look to bolster their defence.

Florian Plettenberg has reported on comments made by the Wolfsburg boss when quizzed about the future of Lacroix. The former Southampton manager revealed the deal taking Lacroix to Crystal Palace is more or less completed, and he will look to bring in a replacement defender.

“He is currently not in Wolfsburg but already on the road for talks. We are waiting until everything is more or less finalised. If you want to play with a back three, you definitely need one more. That’s clear,” said Hasenhütt.

Earlier this today we covered reports from Germany that Crystal Palace have been given the green light to sign the player and he’s set to have a medical with the south London side.

With Joachim Andersen recently signing for Fulham, Crystal Palace were keen to fill the void left by the Danish central defender and it seems Lacroix will be brought in to replace him.

Lacroix made 31 appearances for Wolfsburg last season, scoring four goals. He’s contracted to the club until June 2025 so they could be under pressure to sell him in this window or risk losing him on a free next year.
