One of the problems with transfers which happen late in the window is that a lot of the paperwork which would be done in the days leading up to a transfer then needs to be done afterwards.
That can include work permits. Such an issue is more common with loans, because clubs are hardly going to sign a player permanently if there’s a chance they can’t get a visa, and that’s the case with Miodrag Pivas.
The 19-year-old signed for Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, moving from FK Jedinstvo Ub in Serbia. With the youngster, who can play in defence or midfield, needing games it was decided he’d move from Newcastle United to Willem on loan.
Willem secured a loan at the beginning of September and then started working on a work permit. Since then, Pivas hasn’t been able to play and he’s even barred from training with his new club.
Dutch newspaper AD believe there’s hope that the situation has been resolved for training today, but there’s no update on whether the Newcastle United owned player got the green light.
AD report that even individual training was banned, so Pivas went back to Serbia to train with his old club.
He travelled to the Netherlands again this week, and the assumption is that’s because the paperwork is sorted out.
Pivas needs a work permit because Serbia isn’t part of the EU.
