Signing for a new club and remaining where you are on loan for a season must be a strange feeling for a player. Fans could question the commitment that would be put in, and doubt whether the person concerned was giving their all.
However, when the player is Giorgi Mamardashvili there’s no such concerns. The Georgian goalkeeper has given his all for Valencia since he signed for the Spanish side, and despite knowing he’ll be a Liverpool player soon there’s no change in his commitment.
That’s fortunate, because Valencia very much need him. They’re currently bottom of La Liga, with a solitary point from five games so far.
Relegation is obviously a very real danger, and if they’re to avoid it then Giorgi Mamardashvili will have to have another fantastic season.
During the last campaign he was so good that some in Spain insist he became the best in the world. He impressed again for Georgia at Euro 2024, and Liverpool were convinced to go through with a deal.
Super Deporte have been speaking to the stopper, and he’s made it clear he’s wants to give his all before he sets sail for Anfield: “Valencia, this city and this club have changed my life and I want to give everything I can this year. Valencia has been key in my career, it has helped me a lot these past three years, they have been incredible and I want to say thank you.”
Asked if Valencia can turn things around in the next few matches, he said: “Yes, of course. We have to recover everything and I am convinced that we are going to win. Of course we have to change the dynamic because the five games have been very difficult and now our league is coming, as the coach said, and we are going there.”
