West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten was the ‘mastermind’ behind the rapid deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Niclas Füllkrug.

That’s according to Fussball News, who report that Steidten was the key man behind the deal for the striker.

Füllkrug completed his move to the London Stadium this week, finalising a €27m move to become the latest arrival in what has been a busy summer already for West Ham.

Steidten has been moving quickly to change up the squad for new manager Julen Lopetegui and was the ‘mastermind’ behind the deal for Füllkrug.

According to Fussball News, Steidten knows Füllkrug ‘inside out’ after working with him during their time at Werder Bremen. In fact, he was the man who initiated the striker’s return to the club in July 2019 from Hannover 96.

He’s a big fan of the player and has pushed through the move to West Ham, having never completely broken off contact with him over the last few years.

Now they’re reunited at West Ham and he was the man behind it, making the striker the ‘next Steidten exclamation mark’ on what has already been a busy summer full of them.
