There’s a claim in the Turkish that Fenerbahce could look to sign Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic this summer.

The Super Lig side are set to miss out on Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg as the Dane closes in on a move to Marseille and Kovacic has now become a candidate for the Yellow Canaries.

Dirilis Postasi have reported on the latest developments regarding Fenerbahce’s pursuit of a central midfielder as Jose Mourinho makes it one of his priorities in this transfer window.

The Manchester City player has reportedly emerged as an option for Fener and sporting director Mario Branco will fly to England this week to hold transfer talks with the Croation.

Branco also hopes to have talks with the Premier League champions and a decision will then be made on whether will try to sign him.

The Istanbul side have been linked with a number of midfielders from the Premier League in recent weeks, but their pursuit of Kovacic seems to be one of their more ambitious moves.

Kovacic made 46 appearances for City last season, scoring 3 goals. He’s contracted to the club until June 2027.
