Juventus midfielder Arthur is looking for a new club this summer and Everton and Newcastle United are in the mix for him as his agent tries to drum up interest.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest both Everton and Newcastle may need a little push to actually move for the Brazilian.
The newspaper explains that Juventus have returned to training this week under new manager Thiago Motta, who is busy reshaping the squad he inherited from Max Allegri.
A list has been drawn up of players that he doesn’t want moving forwards and Arthur finds himself on that this summer.
He’s just returned from a loan spell at Fiorentina and his agent, Federico Pastorello, is already working to find him a new destination this summer.
What is needed to change that stance isn’t made clear, but Juventus and their new manager are making it obvious that there’s a deal to be done if either side want it.
Indeed, it appears they’d be willing to sell Arthur for next to nothing just to get rid and perhaps that will tempt the Premier League duo into moves at some point.
Of the two, Everton seem less likely given their finances and need to strengthen elsewhere, and it’s also hard to see the Brazilian fitting into the system employed by Sean Dyche either.
Newcastle would be more of a natural fit and they could do with strengthening in midfield after suffering in that area last year when Sandro Tonali was banned. Given he is now back, though, perhaps their priorities lie elsewhere too.
It’s a situation which is yet to develop, and his agent is working on it, perhaps looking for the angle to convince either team to make a concrete move.
