On Thursday, Denmark will take on England in the Euros, and this will see Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen come up against Bayern Munich star Harry Kane.
The 28-year-old has faced Kane when the striker was at Tottenham Hotspur, and his experience could be vital for his national team when they face the Three Lions.
Wednesday’s edition of Jyllands-Posten says the Crystal Palace star ‘seems unconcerned’ of tomorrow’s opposition.
The Danish newspaper also had a chat with the centre-back, and when asked about the former Spurs man, he only had positive things to say about him. At the same time, Andersen insists he doesn’t fear facing top quality players.
“He’s a top player, I have met him many times. I don’t fear any strikers but he has scored a few times against me,” he said.
The Denmark international spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Fulham before joining the Eagles on a permanent transfer from Lyon a year later.
He’s been a regular at Crystal Palace, and has faced multiple top class players during his time at Selhurst Park. The Dane says Kane is relatively quiet during the game and he revealed this when giving an insight on what happens on the pitch.
“Everyone in the industry is aware that there must be respect between us. An angry striker I can put my arm around after the game, and then the duels on the pitch are forgotten. From the outside, it can look fierce when we have tough close-quarters battles,” Andersen explained.
“My wife often asks me how we can be friends afterwards. If we have to speak out, we do it, and then it’s forgotten. People don’t always understand how it works. Every now and then we say something bad to each other. It’s not for children what is said in the matches. But Harry Kane doesn’t talk that much. He’s a good guy.”
