Girona’s great La Liga campaign has now reached a crucial time, as they’ll soon be confirming whether they’ll have a place in the Champions League next season.
As they have a big weekend game against Barcelona, newspaper La Vanguardia now interviews one of their shareholders, Pere Guardiola.
The brother of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is the administrative council president at Girona, and is undoubtedly very proud of what the club have been achieving lately.
It turns out the interview even had a question about Míchel, who’s the manager of the La Liga side, joining the Premier League club in the future. It all started with Pere being asked about the coach’s contract, which runs until 2026.
Then he was directly asked if Míchel could be the replacement for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
“I think that Míchel has the level to coach big clubs, and we are one of them. Girona are a great club (laughs).”
It’s always worth recalling that the Guardiola brothers aren’t the only tie between Girona and Manchester City, as the clubs are both part of the City Group as well. With so many players moving among their clubs, it would be no surprise if managers do the same in the future.
