Gabigol is reconsidering a move to Chelsea, according to reports from Brazil.
Globo Esporte says the attacker feels “tempted” by the Blues’ offer, and despite saying he wanted to stay at Santos, he could be changing his mind.
Last week, after the 19-year-old said he’d be staying, Santos made an official statement saying the player was signing a new contract. However, after the match against Palmeiras last night, Gabigol said that nothing is confirmed and he may end up leaving the club.
When asked if the new contract was signed, he told Rádio Globo: “No. It’s not yet. The president ended up saying it, but there’s nothing done. We’re only talking. My parents and my agents are talking.
“There are some things to talk. I have offers, too. But there’s nothing certain yet, no. We’ll talk with my parents and my agents. We are talking and will sort it little by little.”
Globo Esporte says that the biggest offer is from Chelsea, which is of €30m. In the past few days, a €20m bid from Juventus was reported as well, but Santos consider it to be too low.
The youngster is said to be afraid of joining a European side and not having much game time. He’s completely settled at Santos as a potential idol, so leaving his home to stay on a foreign club’s bench is something that worries him.
The player currently has a €50m release clause, but as Chelsea’s offer is too big for Santos to decline, the decision to stay or leave is basically in Gabigol’s hands.
