Earlier this week, the English media revealed a lengthy list of managerial candidates being considered by Liverpool to replace Jürgen Klopp.
The usual suspects were all there, such as Xabi Alonso, but a few other names, perhaps more surprising ones, also made an appearance.
RC Lens manager Franck Haise was one of them, and the French manager was directly asked about this alleged interest from Liverpool during a press conference on Friday, with his response relayed by RMC Sport.
He said: “What can I say? It’s a good thing. It’s recognition for a job well done. A job that I don’t do alone, by the way. If we’re talking about the data, the work on the data, the results, the principles of the game…
Logic would suggest that Haise is more of a wildcard than anything for Liverpool at this moment in time, with everyone adamant they will throw the kitchen sink to get the aforementioned Alonso if they can.
If they can’t, there will undoubtedly a favoured pecking order of managers by those in charge of making the decision, with Haise among those.
Finding the right replacement for Klopp is perhaps one of the most important decisions Liverpool have had to make in the past 10 years, maybe more, and it is one they will not take lightly.
