One month after Europa League elimination to Gent, Tottenham Hotspur players are still to overcome the disappointment.
Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele has been speaking to DH this Thursday, and was also questioned about how the club took the defeat.
“Yes, we talked about it and we thought it was not unacceptable,” said the player.
“But we couldn’t have regrets for too long, we had to focus on this other challenge: keep second place in the league. I’m looking forward to starting this final sprint.”
Gent themselves were knocked-out in the round-of-16 by their compatriots from Genk, loosing 5-3 on aggregate.
With 10 Premier League fixtures to go, Tottenham are currently ten points behind leaders Chelsea and two points ahead of third-placed Manchester City.
Spurs next player on Saturday, against Burnley at Toof Moor. As City will be facing a harder challenge at the Emirates, that will be a good opportunity to increase the gap.
