Following the news that Kylian Mbappé wasn’t going to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, a game of chicken ensued between the club and the player, with Liverpool eventually being included in the rumours.

The Ligue 1 side have made it clear they will not play him if he doesn’t extend his deal, which runs out next year, leaving him with the option of being sold or spend a year on the bench.

This is when Liverpool have been thrown into the mix, with it claimed they could be interested in some kind of loan deal, although Jürgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Germany, appears to have distanced himself from any deal.

Speaking to the media, he was asked about the idea of the Reds trying to sign the France international, which would be the coup of the summer if they pulled it off.

However, the German manager made it clear he isn’t aware of any talks from his club with the Ligue 1 side.

He said about Liverpool signing Mbappé: “We laugh about it. I can say that I think he’s a really good player, but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all. I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now, but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it.

“But it’s possible that someone else from the club is preparing something and wants to surprise me, but that hasn’t happened in the eight years that I’ve been here. That would be the first time.”
