Club now ‘willing to pay’ to get Brentford man – Impending departure key, will move to ‘finalise deal’

Valencia are now ‘willing to pay’ to sign Sergi Canós from Brentford, once they’ve moved on striker Edinson Cavani from their squad.

That’s according to AS, who say that once Cavani’s contract has been terminated, the Spanish club will make their move for Canós.

The newspaper explains that Valencia and Cavani have ‘advanced in the termination’ of his contract, with that agreement expected to close between today and tomorrow.

Once the Uruguayan departs it will help to open up the margins in terms of Financial Fair Play and put money into the coffers, which will then allow them to ‘knock on Brentford’s door’ for Canós.

The Spanish club are now ‘willing to pay a transfer fee’ for the midfielder and include a percentage of a future sale into the mix and thus satisfy Brentford’s demands after weeks of negotiations.

The figures of the operation will depend on both variables and how it is split between money initially paid and the percentage, but that is expected to be worked out with little fuss.

Indeed, there is now a confidence that he will be a Valencia player sooner rather than later and become their second signing of the summer unless there is an ‘unexpected twist’ in proceedings.
