Borussia Mönchengladbach have made a ‘concrete approach’ for Southampton striker Paul Onuachu as he looks to leave the Saints this summer.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says VfB Stuttgart are also in the mix for the player after his disastrous spell at St Mary’s.
He reports that Bundesliga clubs are currently ‘leading the race’ for Onuachu, who joined Southampton from KRC Genk in an €18m deal in January.
He had arrived after impressing in Belgium and there was a hope he could score the goals to keep Southampton up but that did not prove to be the case as he failed to impress a series of managers and failed to score a single goal in 11 Premier League appearances.
Southampton are now likely to move him on as part of a summer cost cutting exercise following relegation and Tavolieri reports that there is interest in Germany.
According to him Mönchengladbach have already made a ‘concrete approach’ for the player. Showing their interest in a possible transfer.
The Bundesliga duo are in the mix, though, with the striker seemingly destined to depart Southampton and bring a miserable few months at the club to an end.
🔴🏴 #Bundesliga🇩🇪 clubs leading the race for Paul Onuachu! Borussia Mönchengladbach did a concrete approach, showing his interest. #VfBStuttgart still interested (as said 9/06) but Onuachu don't want to play relegation again so not a priority.
