Leeds United owned defender Giuseppe Bellusci was involved in an altercation with a fan at the weekend, according to reports in Italy. The 27-year-old is currently on loan with Empoli from Leeds United, but the Serie A side are struggling to get results at the moment.
Il Tirreno have revealed Bellusci became involved with an Empoli fan following their 2-0 home defeat to Genoa on Sunday. The Empoli players were booed after the game as their poor form in the league continues.
It’s been reported Bellusci faced up to one of his supporters when walking off the pitch after the player was abused. There have also been claims of fans wanting to confront the Empoli players in the tunnel and outside their changing room.
Despite Bellusci’s clash with a fan at the weekend it’s still likely he will leave Leeds United in the summer. The central defender has been one of Empoli’s standout players in a tough season for the Tuscan club, and his agent recently revealed his client is keen to remain in Italy.
It’s unlikely Bellusci is in the long-term plans of Leeds United manager Garry Monk, and a return to Elland Road is looking very unlikely in the summer.
