Leeds United have made progress in their ongoing pursuit of Juventus’ Weston McKennie.
After the midfielder said yes to the Whites, they made an offer of around €28m. This was reported by Sky Italia on Thursday and it was stated the proposal was €7m short of the Serie A side’s demand.
Later that day, Leeds took further steps to sign the 24-year-old before the January window closes next Tuesday.
According to Gianluca Di Marzo, the American is ‘very close’ to the Premier League club after they ‘slightly increased their offer’ from €28m to €30m on Thursday evening.
The report states it will take a few days, but the feeling is that there could already be a ‘definitive ok’ on Friday, meaning the two clubs could find a meeting point for McKennie’s sale to Leeds.
More developments are expected to take place later today.
The initial €28m offer seemed fair for McKennie, and €30m obviously seems more than fair.
