Watford owner Gino Pozzo is set to add to his group of clubs by becoming involved with Spanish side Sabadell.
That’s according to Sport, who say those involved ‘closing a deal’ for the Pozzo group to become involved in the management of the club.
They report that the Italian businessman, who owns Udinese in Italy and Watford in England, has brokered the arrival of an American investor who is aiming to get the club promoted to La Liga.
They are now ‘on the verge’ of closing deal that will change the direction of the club. Negotiations with current president Esteve Calzada are in ‘the final stages’ and the Pozzo group will take over.
Gino Pozzo is then planning to bring in a new investor, an American group, to boost the club’s coffers and improve the team on the field.
The intention from all parties is to have everything ready in November so they can move in the January transfer market.
Contacts between Pozzo and Calzada started this summer and although the final details are yet to be concluded, the Watford owners will be involved in the sports management without taking control.
It’s not the first time they’ve been involved in Spanish football after previously working at Granada and Valladolid.
The agreement will see them secure the arrival of emerging young talent and players who need to acclimatise to European football, something they’ve done at both Watford and Udinese over the years.
