Argentina are one of the favourites to win the World Cup that will kick-off next month and Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is likely to start for his country in Qatar.
The centre-back has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season for Spurs. His last outing with Tottenham came during their 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League clash on Wednesday.
The latest victory at home has seen Antonio Conte’s side sit top of the table with seven points from four games, leading Marseille and Sporting by a point, who are in second and third spot respectively.
ESPN Argentina caught up with Romero after the European tie and he shared his thoughts on the injuries concerning the national team for the World Cup. The Tottenham player is of the belief Paulo Dybala could miss the FIFA tournament after the AS Roma star picked up an injury last weekend.
“On the one hand, I’m happy, and on the other sad for Paulo, because I think he won’t make it. It’s tough because he’s a very important player. Everyone knows what football is and internally the group does it well.
“He is a very positive person, he gives quality to the game for Argentina: beyond the fact that he is a starter, every time he has played, he has made a difference, it is a very important loss.”
