Belgrano manager Guillermo Farré has hailed his month spent with Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United, describing the experience as “perfection”.
Farré took charge of the Argentinian side in May last year and led them to promotion back to the topflight in Argentina last season.
Before that he had spent a short period as the assistant manager at Estudiantes, having decided to bring his playing career to an end in January 2021.
Like most young coaches he has looked to develop himself by observing more experienced managers, and that process led him to spend over a month with Leeds.
That served as something of an apprenticeship for Farré, who spoke enthusiastically about the experience to TyC Sports.
“The perfection that exists is gourmet cuisine. Bielsa is gourmet cuisine,” he told them.
“It is very difficult to copy something like him because it is his imprint, personality, his way of being, all those who want to copy him do not come out the same.
“The seriousness with which he works, and the organisation are things that one would like to install in his way of being beyond the style of play.
“There are values behind it that go beyond that, they go to the human side, to treat the players first as people and then as players, that has been part of this group.
“In this group there was a great synergy and empathy between members, coaching staff, assistants, that’s what you can get from having been in Leeds with Bielsa, organisation, respect, values that go beyond football.
“I was with him for a month, and I tried not to overstep the space he gave me, to observe or listen without invading, there were situations when I thought I was bothering him and he told me ‘stay, listen.’”
