As Botafogo’s new owner John Textor continues to try to attract foreign players to the Brazilian club, many of his plans are linked to the fact he’s a shareholder at Crystal Palace as well.

The businessman doesn’t even need the local media to create rumours about potential signings, as he’s quite happy to start them himself, and that seems to be the case in a new story published by Lance.

According to the outlet, in an event with Botafogo fans last week, John Textor mentioned that he plans to sign Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.

With Textor partly owning both clubs, the transfer would have no cost attached, and he considers the idea to be a ‘dream’.

So far, it seems there are no real talks for the transfer to happen, and Lance point out that Benteke would still need to agree to the transfer.

The striker has one year left in his contract with Crystal Palace, and this all seems like Textor showing off a little in front of Botafogo fans.
