Despite knowing full-well they will end up selling Jules Koundé at some point in the near future, Sevilla aren’t sweating about it.
The La Liga club are aware both Chelsea and Barcelona want the French defender, and they see this as a good thing, as the Catalans’ presence is a ‘pressure for potential buyers’, according to Marca.
So far, though, ‘no one has approached either officially or through intermediaries to test the possible sale’ of the France international.
The only detail Sevilla know ‘first-hand’ is ‘the agreement for five seasons between Koundé and Chelsea and they are just waiting for London club to finish completing their new internal organisation to sit down and lay the foundations for a transfer that will exceed €60m’.
Even if two of the same offer were to arrive on their desk, Sevilla would ‘prefer the defender go to the Premier League’, far away from their league rivals.
That being said ‘the only but or possible problem is that Barcelona end up convincing Koundé and his entourage’.
Should this happen, they know the La Liga giants would not want to pay the €60-65m that is the starting price, and they won’t sell for the sake of it, meaning ‘nothing would happen if Koundé ended up staying’.
He has two more years left on his contract and Sevilla have ‘other options for sale in the market’, but it’s clear Koundé ‘wants to leave’ and ‘doesn’t want to see himself’ in the same situation as last year, waiting for the Blues until the final days of the window only for the transfer to disappear at the last minute.
In fact, right now, ‘all roads lead to Chelsea’, but watch out for Barcelona.
