Fresh off his promising display against Crystal Palace at the weekend, capped with a goal, Sofiane Feghouli looks set to finish the season at West Ham United.

The Algerian playmaker, who has been of interest to Roma since the start of the January window, seems to be the man Slaven Bilic is likely to rely on in the wake of Dimitri Payet’s decision not to play for the Hammers again, and even David Gold on Twitter agreed Feghouli should stay.

Roma, down their end, aren’t ready to give up just yet, as Il Messaggero on Tuesday report that despite the negative signs they’ve received from West Ham, the Serie A side are ready to make one last attempt to sign the forward on loan until the end of the season.

West Ham, who are in dire need of both reinforcements and keeping hold of their current stars, are likely to say no again, and Roma are looking at alternatives.

Among those is one of Slaven Bilic’s (former?) targets: Grégoire Defrel, who currently plays for Sassuolo.

The player’s knowledge of Serie A could be key for Luciano Spalletti, who would still prefer Feghouli, as Roma look to close the gap on newly-emblazoned Juventus at the top of Serie A.

It’s last chance saloon for the Italian club, and our guess is it won’t come off.
