Suggestions Arsenal could launch a €20m bid for RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku have been laughed off, with the figure not even enough for one of his feet.
That’s as far as SportBILD are concerned, who cover the forward’s future ahead of what is likely to be a big summer.
The Frenchman has established himself as one of the best players in Europe this season, with 30 goals and 19 assists in 44 games in all competitions this season.
All of the big clubs are believed to be keen on him, even if he is likely to cost €65m plus, and Leipzig are doing everything in their power to keep him.
The reports at that time stated they would be paying around €20m for him, but SportBILD laugh that off, stating it would ‘not even be enough for Nkunku’s weaker left foot’.
In other words, if Arsenal seriously want to be in the picture for Nkunku’s signature, they need to start thinking of a figure far above €20m.
SportBILD do suggest that they are still keen, particularly with reports they’ll get rid of as many as 12 players in the summer and need to replace them somehow.
But it’s clear that suggestions of a €20m move in February were extremely wide of the mark, and if Mikel Arteta does want the Frenchman, his pockets will have to be deep indeed.
