It’s no secret that Vitinha is having a great season at Porto, and the Dragons’ fans are just glad that Wolverhampton Wanderers chose not to buy him last summer.

Following the midfielder’s loan spell at Molineux, the Premier League side had an option for a purchase worth €20m, and did not trigger it.

Newspaper O Jogo today features a story pointing out that Vitinha’s market value is now seeing significant growth. Based on Transfermarkt, the player was worth €12m in December and it has raised to €24m now.

It turns out that A Bola features a big story about him today, with one of his agents making a few comments about the time at Wolves.

Gestifute’s Mariano pointed out that Vitinha’s spell in England was important for his growth, even though he was sent back to Portugal.

“The trip to England was made with the agreement of all parties. He still didn’t have a spotlight in the team, but he could already be worth something in economic terms,” said Mariano.

“He looked at things as he always does, ‘if there are better people here than me, if this is the understanding’, he realised that it could be an important step in growth, to understand another context and another reality. He found that right, where he could grow. He didn’t have as many minutes as he wanted but it was enriching for a 20 year old.

“The circumstances of the pandemic and some lack of liquidity emerged. FC Porto fans say he’s good today. But he was a process of construction, he was adjusting himself.”

A Bola also interviewed Paulo Felipe, a former player who’s a friend of Vitinha’s father and followed the midfielder’s evolution. He made a daring comparison with one of the best Portugal internationals ever.

“He can go much further, those who have quality always learn. As he learned in England, playing little, he didn’t fit into Nuno Espírito Santo’s direct football. But he realised that there is intensity at 100 percent. I’m from the time of Deco, I see similarities, but I even think that Vitinha is more technical.”
