Aston Villa and Tottenham players heading out on international duty with Argentina for the next international break will be allowed to return directly to the UK for isolation.
That’s according to TyC Sports, who say the rules have been changed following the fiasco during this month’s international break.
For those that are unaware, the UK’s rules regarding people returning from red list countries caused chaos earlier this month between clubs and their international counterparts.
It was a particular issue with Argentina, who sent players back after their second game after reaching an agreement with the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham.
That was a drastic but necessary measure, but it seems an agreement has been reached to avoid such a mess this time around.
TyC report that those called up from the Premier League will only have to spend five days in isolation on their UK return, and during that time will be able to train individually.
That’s a big difference and ‘brings peace of mind to the clubs’, such as Aston Villa, who will no longer have a key player missing for ten days and unable to train either.
They’re only set to lose goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for the next break anyway, with Lionel Scaloni not calling up Emiliano Buendia. Spurs, meanwhile, have both Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso in the squad for the games against Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru.
