Super-agent Jorge Mendes has offered Barcelona star Ansu Fati to Manchester City as he tries to get his client a new deal at the Nou Camp.
That’s according to El Nacional, who say that Pep Guardiola has made it clear he will not do anything to harm Barcelona.
The newspaper says the Manchester City boss ‘blocks the door’ when it comes to players arriving from Barcelona as he does not want to weaken his former club.
He’s a ‘recognised Barca fan’ and maintains an excellent relationship with president Joan Laporta, with whom he is also friends. As such, he wouldn’t do anything to harm the club, even if that means giving up on improving City’s squad.
He’s set to repeat that when it comes to Fati, who has been offered to the club by his agent Mendes.
He ‘wants to force’ Barcelona to offer his client a new deal before he returns from a neck injury, in fear that could have an impact on him moving forwards.
Barcelona aren’t seemingly keen at this moment in time, so he is ‘offering the player’ to several sides in Europe to try and scare the Catalan giants to sort a new deal as soon as possible.
One of those contacted were Manchester City as there is a belief Fati would fit in well under Guardiola at the Etihad.
However, Guardiola has asked City chief Txiki Begiristain not ‘enter into the game’ that Mendes is playing as he does not want to ‘harm’ Barcelona.
That’s been ‘well received’ by Laporta, who is annoyed with Mendes and his ‘self-interested attempts’ to get a renewal on the cheap.
